The restaurant Meule et Caquelon first opened in Rouyn-Noranda in the region of Abitibi-Témiscamingue in 1994 with a seating capacity for 40 customers.

The restaurant offers its clientele a warm welcome, the employees are dressed in Swiss costumes, the service is personnalized and the food is grade a quality.

Meule et Caquelon is a concept of kitchen at the table. Customers bring their wine, and come to relax in a Swiss-style decor.

The specialties are fondues, raclettes and grilled meat at the table. This new concept became very popular in no time, obliging the owners, Céline and Robert, to find a new site, bigger and more accessible to their customers.

During this time, the family take over is starting. Their son John David, interested in the restaurant business, joins the team.In 1996 the restaurant Meule et Caquelon was rewarded by winning the regional prize for small enterprises at the Tourism Quebec Grand Prix.

The clientele is made up of people from all regions of Quebec,Ontario,Western Canada and the United States. We also welcome many tourists from other countries. The customers themselves make the best publicity for our restaurant, by spreading on their satisfaction. The desire of others to imitate the originality of this restautant made it necessary to protect the concept from being exploited. The economy of the region is in difficulty. The price of gold,wood and the centralisation of government employees towards larger cities affects the economic development of our region.

On March 3rd ,2002, the restaurant moves all of its equipment to Gatineau. Carinne Morrisette, John-David's wife, then also becomes a new associate, joining the actual group.

More than 20 employees work for Meule et Caquelon. Our customers come from Gatineau and the surrounding regions,Ontario,The United States as well as from all over the world. And what's special is that customers from Rouyn-Noranda still continue to come to our restaurant now located in Gatineau.

We have a web site, an e-mail address (batman@bellnet.com) and a 1-800 number, which makes it much easier for our clientèle to make reservations. Our customers can also buy gift certificats by phone or directly at the restaurant. We offer, in collaboration with "Reservation Outaouais" different packages-Relax and Dine-Lodging and restaurant-and several others. The "Forfaiterie"(ticket counter) gives us visibility in all CAA counters and in many shopping centers in the province of Quebec. We wish to open other Meule et Caquelon restaurants in different parts of the province within the next few years. Meule et Caquelon restaurant in Gatineau should be the main restaurant of our future franchises.
